Guest Information & Resort Policies

AREA INFORMATION Located in cabin information book.

BEDDING Bedding is provided in all of our cabins. Extra blankets are available at lodge.

BAIT Crawlers, leeches, and a small selection of lures and fishing supplies are available for purchase at the lodge.

BOAT RENTAL Pontoons, fishing boats, and motors are available to rent in the lodge. Please stay off our pontoons while they’re docked unless you have rented it.

CAMPFIRES Firewood available for purchase at the lodge. Please do not take our wood reserved for winter heating. Please practice safety & supervise your children around the fire. Do not build campfires outside of fire rings!

CHECK-IN Check-In Time is 3:00 p.m. unless previously arranged.

CHECK-OUT Check-Out Time is 9:00 a.m. This allows reasonable time for housekeeping to prepare your cabin for the next guests.

CHILDREN Porta-crib, booster chair, high chair, and child gates available at the lodge.

COFFEE & DONUTS Donut day is Monday at the lodge, with complimentary coffee!

EMERGENCY In the case of an emergency, medical or otherwise, please contact the lodge for immediate attention. Or call 911. Be sure to tell emergency personal your cabin number, fire number 070 at Tuck-A-Way Resort, 70 Lake Hattie Drive NW, Backus, MN 56435.

ENERGY CONSERVATION Crow Wing Power has requested we conserve energy by turning off all unnecessary lights, including outside lights when retiring for the evening, this affects our rates as well as yours so please be mindful of saving energy when you can.

EVENT PLANNING Call us for assistance in arranging a family reunion, weekend retreat, scrap booking or beading event.

FIRE EMERGENCY The resort is equipped with smoke detectors and fire extinguishers. Covering or disconnection any smoke detector in a violation of the law and puts you and all other guests at risk. 

FISH CLEANING The fish cleaning house can be used at any time day or night. Please do not clean fish in your cabin. Fish remains should be placed in the plastic bags and put in the freezer outside the cleaning house. Please wash down the cleaning table and floor when finished.

GAME ROOM Hours are 8:00 am to 11:00 pm.

GENERAL STORE Located in the lodge. Pizza, Ice Cream Treats, Snacks, Ice, T-Shirts, Caps, Sweatshirts, Toys, Bug Spray, Paper Products, Laundry Detergent, Bait, Firewood etc. are available for sale.

GUEST LAUNDRY Coin-operated washers and dryers are located in the shower and laundry area under the game room.

ICE & DRINKS Available in the resort lodge!

KITCHEN Please do not remove kitchen items from your cabins.

LAKEFRONT ACTIVITIES Hours are 8:00 a.m. to Dusk (weather permitting). There are no lifeguards on duty. Please use the swimming area safely. Parents, please watch your little ones when they are in the water. No running, bikes, scooters, skateboards, or head-first diving from the docks. No glass containers are allowed on the beach area. Please use cans or plastic cups.

LIFE JACKETS Adults may check out life jackets in the lodge. Please do not leave life jackets in the boats overnight. Keep life jackets picked up and out of the sand. Please return life jackets to the lodge. Guests will be charged for damaged or lost life jackets.

LOST & FOUND For lost articles, please contact the lodge.

NOISE POLICY For the enjoyment of all our guests, please observe the quiet hours from 11:00 pm to 8:00 am. Due to the diverse tastes of our guests, we ask you to remember that music can easily be heard outside of your cabin, so please adjust volume accordingly. Notify the lodge if a noise problem arises that you feel needs correcting.

PARKING Limit of two vehicles at each cabin site. Additional parking is available in the boat trailer parking area and other points around the resort property.

PETS Pets are allowed at the resort and in the cabins for an additional charge of $35.00 to cover additional cleaning fees. All pets must be on a leash when outside of the cabin and all waste must be picked up by pet owner. Pets must be in a kennel if no one is in the cabin to supervise them. No unattended pets! All shots must be current. Dog gate available at the lodge.

RECREATIONAL Free use of canoes, kayaks and paddle boats on a first come, first use basis. Minnesota state law requires that life jackets must be worn. For the courtesy of others guests, please return these items to where they belong when you have finished using them.

RECYCLING/GARBAGE – We value Mother Nature, so please place recyclables in the recycling container located outside your cabin. Items to be recycled are: aluminum cans, glass bottles and jars, steel cans, plastic containers, and newspaper.

RESERVATIONS/ DEPOSITS/ CANCELLATIONS For future reservations, go to or call the lodge for immediate assistance. To confirm and hold your reservation for the same week the following year, you must leave a deposit with us before departing. Cancellations affect us considerably due to our small size. Tuck-A-Way requires a minimum of a 90-day cancellation notice. In the event of a cancellation, your deposit will be refunded, less a $50 office fee (per cabin reserved).

SMOKING No smoking indoors is allowed in any building at Tuck-A-Way Resort. All buildings on the property are designated Non-Smoking.

TRAVELERS WITH DISABILITIES Tuck-A-Way is a Family Resort & is committed to providing accessible facilities for travelers with disabilities. If you encounter barriers during your stay, please contact the lodge.

VISITORS Visiting Hours are 9:00 am to 10 pm. Our facility is reserved for the exclusive use of our registered guests. We reserve the right to limit the number of daily visitors exceeding a unit’s rated capacity. Please inform us in advance if you expect visitors. Due to Minnesota state laws, all visitors are required to register at the lodge front desk before proceeding to units. By law, we must record all guests on the premises in case of emergencies and disasters. Any visitors not registered will be asked to leave the property immediately.

WEATHER In case of severe weather, storm shelters are available under cabins #3, #7, and #9.
